| | Re: Keeps shutting off, on dial up Are you sure you have Vista installed on that computer? Is Microsoft Outlook installed? There should be a shortcut for Windows Mail by going to Start > All Programs. You can also find it with Windows Explorer: C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe Gary VanderMolen "stan2" <stan2@ilos.net> wrote in message news:ewmG$irlHHA.1624@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Hi, I have two problems > 1) When I click send / Receive I loose my internet dial up connection > it then redials the same number and hangs up instantly, I have greyed out the box but it keeps on doing it. > > 2) Read mail button states, Outlook express, not the new win mail > it then says cannot open outlook......where is the button to open winmail? > > Both my settings look the same for exploerer and winmail. > > Any help appreciated > > |

| | Re: Keeps shutting off, on dial up Yes it is vista, no I don't have outlook installed, it happens when I move the read mail button onto the explorer buttons, it tries to open outlook and of course cannot, "stan2" <stan2@ilos.net> wrote in message news:ewmG$irlHHA.1624@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Hi, I have two problems > 1) When I click send / Receive I loose my internet dial up connection > it then redials the same number and hangs up instantly, I have greyed out > the box but it keeps on doing it. > > 2) Read mail button states, Outlook express, not the new win mail > it then says cannot open outlook......where is the button to open winmail? > > Both my settings look the same for exploerer and winmail. > > Any help appreciated > > |

| | Re: Keeps shutting off, on dial up It sounds like you have at least two separate problems. It's too confusing to deal with separate problems in one post, so I'll address only one for now. Click on Start, Default Programs, then click the first item: "Set your default programs." After a few seconds a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows Mail. To the right you should then see "This program has all its defaults." If it has less than all of its defaults, fix it by selecting one of the two green arrow options. | | Re: Keeps shutting off, on dial up In Windows Mail, go to Tools, Options, Connection, uncheck "Hang up after sending and receiving". Also, go to Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties, Connection, make sure everything in that Connection screen is grayed out, which means it will use the connection settings in Internet Explorer.
