Internet connections in Windows Mail

Why can't I turn off Windows mail's desire to dial up a new connection every
time I open it - even when there is already an active broadband connection?
I've tried what i would have done in Xp - gone into the Connections tab and
checked the "Never dial a connection" box but it still insists on trying to
dial my analogue connection evry time I open Windows mail......and without
that dial up connection it is incapable of accessing my broadband connection
(which works perfectly well with IE). Is this a system bug or am i doing
something wrong?

Is the Broadband Connection (default) defined under
Dial-up and Virtual Private network Setting?
Tools > Options > Connection > Change...etc.

You may have to select Setup and complete it.

Re: Internet connections in Windows Mail

In addition to what Julian said, make sure your Windows Mail
account isn't configured to override the Internet Explorer setting.
Go to Tools > Accounts > select the account > Properties >
Connection

ps. And if you could spare a moment to feedback on any successful
suggestions it would be helpful in establishing a "database" of solutions.

Re: Internet connections in Windows Mail

Julian & Gary - BINGO - Problem solved & thanks. The problem was that I was
focusing on the internet connection settings in IE & Windows mail without
thinking about the Accounts settings override possibility. When I tried to
check the Tools>accounts>connections tab it wouldn't open and I just got a
"Not Responding" message from Windows mail. So I deleted the two e-mail
accounts I had previously set up and then set them up again as new accounts
and they both work fine and Windows Mail is no longer trying to dial my
analogue connection.

Thanks again

Stuart

Thanks for the feedback.
It's always nice to hear that the suggested fixes do work.

Re: Internet connections in Windows Mail

Hi, I'm having the similar problem, everything was working fine until I took
my computer home and connected thru dial up, now when my computer is back at
work with the wireless connection, it connects fine, but I have the same
problem with not being able to send / receive email messages in windows mail.
| followed your instructions, but when I get click "add" or set up, I get
the message the I am connected to the internet already, (with my wireless),
what should I do? Is there anyway I can remove and reference to dial up at
all?

Nothing shows up under Dial-up and Virtual Private network Settings, so when
I click Set Up, then click Wireless, I'm advised I'm already
connected.....not sure what exactly I should be clicking, because it seems to
just keep taking me in circles. So I turned off my router (so no longer
connected), followed the same instructions as above, after clicking Set Up,
then Wireless, a list of networks appears (none of which are mine) so I click
on Set up a connection or network, then a window pops up with Choose a
connection option.......I selected the first option, Connect to the Internet,
Next, Then I'm asked how I want to connect, Wireless, then I am brought back
to the same Select a netowork to connect to, I'm right back to where are
started from....what am I missing?
