Vista - Gmail help please

I have tried many different fixes but keep comming up with this error message.

firewall is set and i have pop enabled in gmail

(Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'Gmail', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port:
110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F)

any advice would be great

Seens that port 110 ist blocked by the firewall. Try with enabling port 110
for incoming and outgoing traffic in the firewall settings.

Your port should be 995

Tools > Accounts > Highlight Gmal Account > Properties > Advanced >

Tick box > This server requires a secure SSL connection (SSL)

Click Apply

Gmail uses different ports.

Outgoing (SMTP) uses 465
Incoming (POP) uses 995

Change them in
Tools - Accounts - highlightyouraccount - Properties - Advanced

also check both boxes: [x] This server requires a secure connection
