trouble sending email

my operating sys is windows vista 32bit, i have set up my windows mail and it
was working fine with one LAN i was using now i have a new provider
(roadrunner) and with their tech support have changed the appropriate
settings, now i can not send email i get several different errors such as:
-- The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was (this has been deleted for
privacy)@hotmail.com'. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop-server.roadrunner.com',
Server: 'smtp-server.roadrunner.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550
relaying mail to hotmail.com is not allowed', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
I have set up my pop3 and smtp correctly but every time i try to send an
email the address i am sending it too says it's not allowed?
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME (the tech support for timewarner roadrunner says
they've done all they can do and directed to microsoft support)

Re: trouble sending email

550 is a relay error meaning that you are trying to send an e-mail via a
SMTP server that is NOT the SMTP server of the ISP you are connected.

Hotmail does not work in Windows Mail plus won't send via Road Runner's SMTP
server.

Re: trouble sending email

Thank you for replying DGuess. With my other isp provider i could send to
hotmail, yahoo, and others thru windows mail. Now, i can send to hotmail and
others thru roadrunner on my desktop, which is using outlook express6. I am
now trying to access my roadrunner mail thru my laptop windows mail (and of
course this laptop is fairly new and has windows vista) i can receive but not
send to anyone (unless they have roadrunner (a friend has timewarner
roadrunner but her address ends in maine.rr.com(which is roadrunner) but it
will not let me send to that either) I hope i am explaining this all
correctly, i am just so frustrated. Too many hours spent trying to get this
correct. tech support at timewarner tell me all is good on their end and
microsoft says same thing. Any ideas?

A temporary workaround is to find another email client program for Vista and
see if the problem follows. There are free email clients for Vista. If one
works for you, then you have a workaround, until you can figure out the
problem with WM, use Google to find them.

Re: trouble sending email

Since this is a laptop you are having trouble with, was the laptop at home
when you got that error message, or were you somewhere else like an
internet cafe or random wireless hotspot?

Re: trouble sending email

It wasn't the provider it was the e-mail client that would work.

Hotmail won't work with WinMail, Outlook Express did.

As to the sending to anyone outside of Roadrunner (which your opriginal
error message is NOT about), what error messager are you getting on it?

Re: trouble sending email

No, I was at home. And for the hell of it I added my old isp provider back
into accounts(it's not turned off yet) and set that it and I could receive
and send, and do all I wanted to do. It's just since I've gotten timeWarner
roadrunner that i'm having all these problems. And as I've stated before, the
confusing thing for me is that on my desktop w/outlook express, roadrunner
works as it's suppose to. It's only on the laptop that I have the problem

Re: trouble sending email

other error messages I get are 0x8000ccc0d. it will not let me send to
anyone3 examples baf.com, pioneerwireless.net, ainop.com, maine.rr.com etc.
i don't understand what you mean when you say hotmail won't work with
winmail. I was not setting up an account for hotmail thru winmail, i'm just
trying to send to hotmail and others.

Re: trouble sending email

I also have Roadrunner. Your server settings look correct. However, you
might want to look to see that
"Log on using secure Password Authentication" is unchecked
and
"My server requires authentication" is unchecked

Are you sure that your laptop is connected to your Roadrunner network, and
not someone else's?
If you are using wireless, it could be picking up another network.

Re: trouble sending email

Everything is unchecked and yes i'm using a wireless , the tech guy that set
everything up hooked up the wireless router to the roadrunner router(i also
have a desktop hooked up) and I only have one option to connect to a network.
Any other suggestions? I can use all the help i can get because I'm going
insane and spending wayyyyyyy to much time trying to set this up. like i've
said before, it worked for one isp why not the other?
