Vista - Windows Contacts & Outlook 2000

I noticed that Windows Vista comes with Window Contacts and Windows Calendar
which is what helped me to decide that I didn't need to buy Outlook 2007.
Unfortunately my new smartphone on Win Mobile 6 will only sync to the
contacts and appointments in Outlook. I can see the smartphone try to "push"
the info to my laptop on Windows Mobil Device Center... but there aren't any
options in Vista's Mobile Device Center to allow me to associate or assign
the data from my smartphone (T-Mobile Dash) to Vista's Contacts or Calendar.
It seems like a waste to have to install Outlook when Vista already has the
Contacts and Calendar I need from Outlook.

The smartphone came with Outlook 2000 for me to install. Does anyone know of
any conflicts if I install this on my Vista Home Premium 32bit? Will it
absorb the Windows Contacts and Calendar already on my system or will I need
to uninstall those?... because using up space for both seems a little too
redundant.

Any help is much appreciated.

I am using a Vista Home premium 32 bit the same as you have which I purchased
new 3 months ago with Fujitsu-Siemen Scaleo J. I have a previous problem
about the microsoft outlook 2000 I can not recieved and send e-mail the
message says can not find the "windows address book" in short that is the
Wab.dll and i found out that i was not the only one who had exactly a
similar problem ,my PC is partitioned in drive c:\VISTA and in drive D:\ XP
,so what i did is that I copied all the file with WAB.dll such as 32WAB.dll
in short i copied all that has a WAB not matter what program it belongs then
i paste it to the Microsoft Outlook with Vista you can copy and paste the
same name and size but select "keep both " I restarted then when i tried to
use the Outlook2000 to send it was recieved and when i tried to received it
works, i have a a next door neighbor with internet connection. to help me do
the sending and receiving of e-mail. So we send what i had discovered to our
friends with VISTA and using Outlook 2000 and it works. it is just a question
of "Windows Address Book "
WAB.dll of all kinds.
Now we have a friend who have exactly the same problem as you have he
is a young man who like to have at least everything new on his PC, he have
smartphone-Tmobile but is doesn't work he tried to use toher software but it
got worse and was corrupted in short he remove it and reinstall then we
suggested to copy all type of WAB.dll files and paste it to Outlook 2000 here
the "outlook 2000 Address book is located or reside" so he did it restart
his pc then BANG IT WORK. AND WE ARE THE FIRST USE HIS COM TO HEAR THE
BEAUTIFUL VOICE OF HIS GIRLFRIEND AND SEND OUR GREETING TOO BY OUTLOOK 2000;
Please try it and if it work (sure 95 % it will) because most of our
friends using Vista Home premium have done it . It if work with you please
pass it to other because there are lots of CROCODILE COMPUTER TECHNICIAN WHO
CHARGE SKY HIGH FOR VISTA USER HAVING A LIMITED TECHINICAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE
VISTA DESCREPANCY.
I wish for you the best and be careful in downloading some programs
because it happens many times that the Microsoft send a message informing
that your WINDOWS VISTA IS NOT GENUINE (when in fact you have already send
your windows validation code which is the evidence that your windows VISTA is
Genuine)WHEN YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE YOU HAVE TO REMOVE OR UN-installed the last
program you have installed. I can not comphehend why the bright boys of
Microsoft dont foreseen this events.

Outlook 2000 doesn't run correctly on Vista nor do earlier versions or
Outlook 2002:

Does Outlook work on Vista?

As to ActiveSync and the Windows Mobile Device Center, these REQUIRE
Outlook; if you wish to sync your Dash, you'll need to get Outlook 2003 or
later...I'm really rather surprised that the Dash came with Outlook 2000, an
application that became obsolete long before the Dash was released. I have
an Alltel PPC-6700, a similar vintage Windows Mobile 5 smartphone, and it
came with Outlook 2003 which runs just fine under Vista.
