Vista - Cannot delete message

I have a message in my Inbox that I cannot delete.

This is the body of the message or where the message was: Message could not
be displayed
Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.

My computer does not have low memory or low disk space.

This is the message I receive when I attempt to delete: An unknown error has
occurred.

I know there has been help offered here to delete messages from the Outbox
but my message is in the Inbox.

Anyone have any suggestions how I can delete the message?

If you check the newsgroup, you'll see that a lot of people have the same
problem : it is impossible to delete some message.

Nobody have a solution to this issue... I hope Microsoft is aware about it,
because there is no solution and no workarround for the moment...

Hi Kay,

Make sure your Anti-virus program is set to not scan/filter your e-mail for spam or adware. There's been a lot of problems with that. Reboot and see if that helps you.

If not, then you'll need to do this:

*For Outbox & Database problems :

Link for download : WMUtil

1. Close Windows Mail
2. Download WMutil and run it (This is a ZIP file, so be sure to choose Save rather than Run)
3. Run the wmutil.zip (from where you just downloaded)
4. Extract the two files (Wmutil.exe, scxout.dll) to a folder of your choice
5. Run the WMUtil.exe (from where you extracted it to)
6. wait a bit until the buttons become active
7. click on Repair Database (It may take a while to finish)
IF the buttons will not become active or you get a error message: (after a minute or so)
A) press Ctrl + Shift + Esc (to open Task manager)
B) click on Processes tab
C) click on WinMail.exe
D) click the End Process button
E) OK any confirmations & rerun WMUtil.exe

Should you care to look again you will find that
it has been fixed for several people.

Some find that repeated delete attempts eventually work
and other have used http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx
successfully.

Read the instructions and follow them. It's easy.

I beg to differ. The original poster said:

"I have a message in my Inbox that I cannot delete."

WMUtil does not remove stuck inbox messages. There is only a "Clear Outbox"
button.

You are correct. And Microsoft is aware of the problem, but that does not
mean a quick or even timely fix.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their solutions! Nothing worked. So along
with everyone else I'll wait for Microsoft to fix it, that is if they do!
