Vista - cannot remove message from outbox, cannot send or reply to mail

The answers I have seen are too technical for me ... can anyone give the
steps in a non techy way please? Thanks

Hi Lynda,

I hope this isn't to technical. If so, just post back and let us/me know what you don't understand and WE/I will help you with it. This is for not being able to delete the message in the Outbox.

First, make sure that your Anti-Virus program has all the options or settings turned off for scanning your E-mail for SPAM or AdWare. This is a known issue with Windows Mail that will cause problems. This will help prevent it from happening again.

*For Outbox problems :

1. Close Windows Mail
A) press these keys CTRL + SHIFT + ESC (to open Task manager)
B) click on the Processes tab
C) see if there is a file named WinMail.exe listed
D) If not, go to step 2. If yes, then click on it (to highlight the file)
E) click on the END PROCESS button (bottom right corner)
F) OK any confirmations that may pop up
2. Download WMutil and run it from link above (This is a ZIP file, so be sure to choose Save rather than Run)
3. Run the wmutil.zip (from where you just downloaded)
4. click the Extract button & extract the two files (Wmutil.exe, scxout.dll) to a folder of your choice
5. Run the WMUtil.exe (from where you extracted it to)
6. wait a bit until the buttons become active
7. click on Clear Outbox (It may take a while to finish)

Download the zip file from here: www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/

Unzip the two files and run the program.

Click the "Clear Outbox" button.
