Windows Mail (Not Responding)

I cannot open any attachments in Windows Mail. Each time I try, I get (not
responding). Any suggestions?

Re: Windows Mail (Not Responding)

See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#1 and that probably won't help so see #3
which may or may not. If it doesn't then try uninstally you AV software
completely and many have reported that that has resolved the problem. Then
get a less invasive AV product.

Re: Windows Mail (Not Responding)

In Windows Mail go to Tools, Options, Security and uncheck

"Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a
virus."

Re: Windows Mail (Not Responding)

I don't think you understand the problem. It isn't security stopping the
attachment from being opened. The Windows Mail program just stops working
completely. It has to be shut down and restarted. When I click on the red
"X", it tries to look for a solution for the problem. Of course, there
doesn't seem to be one. I don't get any message after that. No message
about security not allowing the attachment to be opened.

Re: Windows Mail (Not Responding)

In last night's reply, Steve advised you to uninstall your AV program
(see http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 ).
Did you try that?

Re: Windows Mail (Not Responding)

AV stands for antivirus program. You need to disable or uninstall it.

Re: Windows Mail (Not Responding)

I uninstalled my antivirus program. I also went to Windows Mail, Tools,
Options, Security and unchecked "Do not allow attachments to be saved or
opened that could potentially be a virus. I restarted my computer after
uninstalling AV. Also after removing email account, before adding it again.
Still cannot open attachments.

Re: Windows Mail (Not Responding)

And so when you try to save one Windows Mail shuts down? Is that what the
scenario is?

Is it all attachments or just some kinds?

Can you save the attached image from this message?
