Can't send e-mail

we have Vista Home premium and Comcast e-mail. we can receive our e-mails but
can not send. They just stay in the outbox of Windows Mail. We have worked w/
Comcast techs and all our settings are correct. Is there a fix?

Double check...

POP3 (Incoming Mail) Server: mail.comcast.net

SMTP (Outgoing Mail) Server: smtp.comcast.net

Your E-Mail address: e-mail ID@comcast.net

News Groups: netnews.comcast.net

Port settings when on the Network: POP port 110 and SMTP port 25

SSL(Port settings when traveling): POP port 995 and SMTP port 465

Re: Can't send e-mail

if you installed mcafee from from comcast, that is the problem.
mcafee has problems with vista.
avg or avast are 2 free virus programs that work well with vista.

Re: Can't send e-mail

Thank you, we have already checked those settings w/ Comcast. We also have a
msg in outbox that we can't delete. I'm wondering if that could be a problem?

Yes, indeed.

Use this... http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx

not. follow the instructions precisely
with particular attention to...
(otherwise you will not have the function you need)

If Windows Mail is open, or if a current WinMail.exe process is running, the
Database functions are disabled, and the WinMail.exe process must be
terminated before these features can become available. (If WinMail is closed
and these buttons still remain disabled, then perform a CTRL-SHIFT-ESC, and
under Processes find WinMail.exe and click on it, and then click the End
Process button.)

Re: Can't send e-mail

Dave,

I and several other people have had the same problem. Go to

www.oehelp.com/wmutil

and download Steve Cochran's utility. Then use the utility (after
unzipping) to compact your e-mail and the problem will go away. It worked
for me.

Good luck.
