Windows Vista WinMail - Not deleting mail from server

I have been using the WinMail that came with vista and like it. I have three
accounts - one with Verizon.net, two with AOL. The AOL (which is IMAP)
deletes when the items are deleted from the "Delete Items" folder, while the
Verizon account doesn't. I have selected deleted from the Deleted Items
folder.

Is there something else that I need to set/turn on? or do I need to get an
update? just puzzing here as to what is not being able to get done by
Windows Vista WinMail.

Hi Dick,

Will it delete manually for the Verizon.net account?

Also, make sure you have E-mail scanning turned off on your Antivirus program.

IF I turn off email scanning, then what good is it to have it ?

I can go to the web area and delete the emails that I had deleted from
WinMail.

Hi Dick,

You will still be protected from Viruses and such from your Antivirus program. It's just that e-mail scanning is a redundent option that has been known to cause problems with Windows Mail.

It sounds like you might be leaving a copy of your messages on Verizon.net's server. Check here to be sure this option is off:

1. Click Tools (In Windows Mail)
2. Click Accounts.
3. Click on your E-mail account with Verizon.net and click Properties.
4. Click on the Advanced tab.
5. Uncheck "Leave a copy of messages on server" and click ok to apply. (See screenshot below)

Hope this helps,

Email scanning adds absolutely no protection not already provided by the
anti-virus' resident real-time protection, which should always be running in
the background.
