The best you can do is gradually add real English spellings but that still leaves the problem of spellcheck accepting foreign English spellings. There appears to be no chance of this situation being resolved in WM but it may be fixed in future releases of WLM. http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas |

TIA -- John the West Ham fan housetrained@hotmail.com <>< You can't, but you can use the custom dictionary. Go to this link for full details on Spell Checker. Scroll down a bit for how to add a word. You'll just need to keep adding them as you go along for the ones that are not already in the dictionary. Windows Mail Spell Check Hope this helps, Shawn |

| | Re: Spellcheck Thanks everyone. But this is just another example of England being flushed down the pipe. What if we asked HRH Bill for a United Kingdom English? :-) -- John the West Ham fan housetrained@hotmail.com <>< "housetrained" <housetrained@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:%239WNG3yqHHA.1204@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > The spell-check in vista mail uses American English. Don't ascribe malice to something that's merely due to time constraints and/or lack of resources. If you were MS, and you only had enough time to set up WM with 4 languages, which ones would you choose? In a perfect world, they would have held off releasing Vista until everything was perfect, but you know how that goes. Timelines turn into deadlines. -- Gary VanderMolen |

That is not what I am doing and I fully understand the time constraints placed up developers. But ... do you not think MS has had long enough to come up with a spell check for English? |

UK English would have been number one since it is the international language of business and used by the vast majority of English users. Then Spanish, Chinese and... err... Navaho. |

Perhaps, but Redmond's home office being located in the US carries lot of weight. ;-) Also, WM isn't a business-level mail program such as Outlook. -- Gary VanderMolen |
