Pictures don't display in body of message, only red X

Sometimes I receive messages with attached pictures. Instead of the pictures
being displayed in the body of the message, I sometimes see only a red X.
Is there a setting that I should change, or is this situation caused by
settings on the sender's end? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Pictures don't display in body of message, only red X

Hi Barb,

Check these settings:
1. Click on Tools (In Windows Mail)
2. Click on Options
3. Click on Security tab.
4. uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or open......."
5. uncheck "Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail"
6. Dot "Internet Zone" not the "Restricted Zone"
7. Click OK to apply

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks for trying to help. I didn't have to change any settings, since these
settings are already in place. Is there a setting on the sender's end that
should be corrected?

Barb,

It should't make much difference on the sender, but them having their "Tools>Options>Send tab>Mail send format: HTML" set would be more compatible.

What file type is the image in? Sometimes, some image file types just can't be view outside of Windows Photo Gallery or Paint. Are you able to view it outside of the e-mail?

The picture probably wasn't sent.
For instance, with HTML messages in Windows Mail and Outlook Express the
sender must have "Send pictures with message" checked at Tools | Options |
Send | Mail | Html Settings.
