WinMail as defaut program

I can not get Windows Mail to stay as my default E-mail client. When I set it
as standard from WinMail itself it goes back to not standard next time I open
it. It does not show in default programs. Have installed Outlook 2002 but not
set it as standard.
Made som small change in register soo that I can use mailto. (would be nice
to set all back as standard)
Please help.

Re: WinMail as defaut program

Hi Annero,

Go to this link and scroll down a bit and do this section:
Set Windows Mail defaults:

Windows Mail problems

It will show you how to add Windows Mail back to the default program list and how to change the defaults. Also, make sure that in Outlook you have "Always make or set as default" (Something like that) unchecked.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Start | Default Programs
Make sure Windows Mail has all three of its defaults.

So, did you click Set as Default?
BTW, every time an update installs for Outlook it will set Outlook as the
default.

Re: WinMail as defaut program

Type or paste the following command into the Start search bar and hit Enter:

"C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe" OCInstallReinstallOE

(include the quote marks).

Then reboot and see if Windows Mail is now present in Default Programs.

Re: WinMail as defaut program

Yes I have clickt on set as defaut, but as I said it only set Windows Mail
(newsgroups) as default not e-mail.
I have uninstalled Outlook and that did not help.

Re: WinMail as defaut program

Have tried that too. Only thing that happens is that I get a new icon in
startmenu. In default programs it is the same only Windows Mail (newsgroups)
are present no Windows Mail for E-Mail.
I think that Outlook have screwed up my regfile. Is there no way to enter
default patch for Windows Mail (e-mail) manualy in regfile ?

Hi Annero,

Go to this site and scroll down a bit and do this section:
Set Windows Mail defaults:

It will show you how to add Windows Mail (E-mail) back to the Default's list and how to set Windows Mail as the default.

Windows Mail problems

This should help,
Shawn
