| | deleting" deleted item folder" I can not delete my "deleted folder". I click delete items. A pop up says do you want to delete the contents of your deleted folder? I say yes and then it just deletes only 1 email. I have 400 and more adding up as we speak. What to do? Error messages come up when I highlight and try to delete more than one item. Definitely a glitch that needs worked out. |

| | Re: deleting" deleted item folder" Sheryl, Right click the "Deleted Folder". Then left click the option "Empty 'Deleted Items' Folder". Indicate yes and all the e-mails in the deleted folder will disappear. At least that is the way it works on my machine. Good luck and let me know what happens. If you are not willing to just ignore them, the only way is to delete both copies of the database (which does not contain the messages, but only references to them) and let WinMail rebuild it. First close WinMail, then use Task Manager to make sure there are no instances of it under applications or processes. Then click Start | Search | Advanced Search Check the box to include non-indexed, hidden and system files. In the Name field type WindowsMail.MSMessageStore and click the Search button. It should show you two copies. Delete both of them and re-open WinMail. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Do not send mail. |

| | Re: deleting" deleted item folder" When you get tired of repairing faults in WM over and over, switch to Windows Live Mail: http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas It doesn't have that problem. -- Gary VanderMolen "Sheryl" <Sheryl@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:BCE61A84-D177-4ADE-9BF7-E601CDA32E9D@microsoft.com... >I can not delete my "deleted folder". Some are suggesting a switch to Thunderbird - the alternative is Live Mail but it is betaware - you will be testing software for Microsoft. Live Mail may well not have this failure to delete out of all its folders, but then it has its own problems. Have a read in the Live Mail newsgroup and then make a decision before making any rash decisions. As is the norm - its users choice Rgds Antioch |

Since releasing Vista and Windows Mail, they have been concentrating on Windows Live Mail. Even though I dislike the program, it probably has fewer bugs than Windows Mail, although since switching to Avast as my anti-virus I haven't had any problems with Windows Mail. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Do not send mail. |
