| | Re: Windows Mail dead after updates Are you running Spybot? If so, go into its Immunize option and undo immunize. Spybot's immunize function adds some 8000 sites to the restricted sites list in Internet Explorer, which can adversely affect HTML email composition. | | Re: Windows Mail dead after updates Hey Gary, Thanks for the response. I am running Spybot and will try your suggestion when I get home. I also run Spyware Blaster and Spyware Doctor which have immunization, do I need to turn them off also? I also do not have Spybot run during start up so it is not active unless I bring it up, is the immunization of these programs active, even though the programs are off and not running in the back ground? And if the immunization is still active how do I get rid of it? Thanks for your help, Michael "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > Are you running Spybot? | | Re: Windows Mail dead after updates Sorry, I'm not that familiar with third party security products. I do know that the "immunize" condition persists even with Spybot not running. | | Re: Windows Mail dead after updates Spyware Blaster sets killbits for ActiveX objects and has no impact on this issue. Not sure about Spyware Doctor so, you should check either it's Help files or website for more info. It it puts sites in the Restricted zone then it will have an impact. Gary is spot on with his take on Spybot. MowGreen [MVP 2003-2007] =============== *-343-* FDNY Never Forgotten =============== Michael wrote: > Hey Gary, > > Thanks for the response. The problem only developed after dowloading those aforementioned updates and Windows Mail is working again after I did a system restore to get rid of the updates. I really appreciate everyones help. | | Re: Windows Mail dead after updates It it obvious from the messages in this forum that there is a serious issue with Windows Mail, when are Microsoft going to admit to this and provide a fix instead of making satements like Norton and McAfee are both incompatible with Windows Mail, how about Windows Mail is incompatible with McAfee and Norton. People are saying that they have had problem after downloading updates so why not look into this and get back to us.?? It is true that removing the immunization on Spybot SD fixes the speed issue but why did this not cause an issue when using Outlook Express, is it something to do with the way Windows Mail handles Junk mail or some other reason, it would be nice if you gave us an explanation of why immunization causes this problem, after all immunization is intended to prevent dodgy websites when using IE, not Windows Mail.??? Cheers. |

| | Re: Windows Mail dead after updates > ...when are Microsoft going to admit to this and provide a fix... Windows Mail is pretty much dead-in-the-water, just like OE. All development efforts are being put into Windows Live Mail now as a replacement for both Windows Mail and OE. > ...instead of making satements like Norton and McAfee are both > incompatible with Windows Mail, how about Windows Mail is incompatible > with > McAfee and Norton. We're all volunteers here, including MVPs who are just telling you what they've learned from experience. > It is true that removing the immunization on Spybot SD fixes the speed > issue > but why did this not cause an issue when using Outlook Express...
