You can use Eprompter to check it : http://www.eprompter.com Free "Rose" <rhumbleness@excite.com> wrote in message news:BFAF7DE4-7D91-40FC-9A84-157CEE841343@microsoft.com... > does any one know how to set up the mail account please help i tried > > incoming.excite.com > > and > > mail.excite.com > > and > > smtp.excite.com > > none of these work can you tell whatto use forincoming and out going mail > for pop3 account i also tried pop3.excite.com what am i doing wrong? |

| | Re: set up word mial Excite seems to be web-based, unless you pay for premium service to get POP access? http://www1.excite.com/email/gold_intro Is this correct? Windows mail cannot access webmail accounts. | | Re: set up word mial Hi, Rose. The obvious answer is for you to ask Excite. Microsoft doesn't (officially) know the server name for my ISP (mail.grandecom.net, both incoming and outgoing) or for yours or anybody else's. That information comes from your ISP or whomever provides your email service. The same outfit that assigned your UserName for use on their server. The information should be in the packet you (might have) received from Excite when you signed up. If you signed up online, there may have been an email or you may have downloaded files that told you what you needed to know. In addition to your UserName, password and server name(s), you also need to know which security features to check, such as SPA. If all else fails, go to http://www.excite.com/ and ask. Or wait here for another Excite customer to tell you what you need to know. All this has not changed from Windows to Vista - and it is the same no matter which email client you are using. RC -- R. C. Use the same settings for servers, authentication and ports that you used in Outlook Express. In fact, if you export you account from OE in Your previous version of Windows, you can import the IAF file into WinMail.
