| | Re: Training junk filter No. Unfortunately, WM's junk filter is not trainable. | Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Training junk filter Hi Qwertyscar, You will have to manually set Message Rules or use some 3rd party program to filter out from the Content. Hope this helps, Shawn |

| | Re: Training junk filter I just upgraded to Vista in the last 24 hours. Prior to that I was using Microsoft Outlook 2003 wiht a filter called Spam Bayes which I liked a lot. I am a bit dissapointed that it appears impossible to train the junk filter to the degree that Spam Bayes was able to do. However I think I found a loop hole that may make it possible. Click TOOLS then JUNK E-MAIL OPTIONS then select SAFE LIST ONLY. You can not train the WM to identify junk mail except through blacklisting domains or senders BUT you can train it to identify SAFE SENDERS that have been accidently sent to the Junk Email Box. So you will have to monitor the junk email box and add anyones GOOD email to SAFELIST by clicking NOT SPAM which will move it out of the Junk Box. The positive is that ALL junk mail WILL end up in the Junk Box for sure. The downside is it is a bit cumbersome and inconvenient to have to monitor the junk box for good emails. Well I hope that helps somebody. I would simply keep using OUTLOOK but for some reason Vista is blocking it from working. I could get around that adjusting the firewall in XP but that feature seems to be removed from Vista. IF anyone knows how to help with that problem let me know. Thanks! |

| | Windows Live Mail Beta Not Working on my PC I just upgraded my laptop to Vista in the last 24 hours. I was not satisified with Windows Mail Junk Filtering and thought I would try Windows Live Mail Beta. The software looks a bit more likely to suit my needs but it is not working. I am recieving this error message Error Number: 0x800CCC0F For now I uninstalled the program and using the exact same settings Windows Mail works just fine. How do I fix this problem? |

| | Re: Windows Live Mail Beta Not Working on my PC Issues pertaining strictly to the Windows Live Mail beta should be posted to the newsgroup microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop. In case of an error message, always post the complete text, not just the error number. The Junk E-mail filtering in WLM is not any more sophisticated that what you have in WM. Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. It provides no protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Beside that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Do not send mail. |
