I am trying to send attachments in either Word or Works and no one can open
them. What do I have to do so those who recieve my emails can read my
attachments?

They need to have Word or Works, or the free Word viewer.

but it may not be able to open the new Word 2007 .docx format.

You could also print the documents to PDF, and send that. Most people can
open PDFs.
