Vista - Re: How to keep stupid windows mail from spamming emails that I set rules for

So how about it, microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail users, is there anyway
to keep Mail from junking the messages that are moved by the rules that I've
created?

I don't think this is a situation where WM is "yanking these messages
out of the folder I put them in, and moving them into 'Junk E-Mail'
without my permission."
Chances are, those messages never reached your special folder.
Junk E-Mail filters work only on messages right after they are downloaded
to the Inbox, and just before Message Rules are applied.
One way to escape being classified as Junk, the sender would have to be
on the Safe Senders list. Other than that, try setting the Junk E-Mail level
on Low, or else turn it off altogether.

Very importent! However spam is getting harder and harder to track! We
really need to do something about it!

If so it isn't Windows Mail doing it. McAfee does not play well with Vista.

I can open up my special folder while WM is downloading the messages. I see
the message appear in the special folder for a second or two, and then the
message disappears and I can find it sitting in 'Junk E-Mail'.

So the messages are definitely spending a second or two in the special folder
before the junkmail filter is grabbing them.

IMO, hashcash or actual money is the only thing that can stop spam.

Think of how much more crap would show up in your postal mailbox if it was
'free' to send postal mail.

Nope. There's nothing special in the subject line. It appears to be
unaltered.

I ditched McAfee some weeks ago. How they've let the quality on that product
drop to the level it has is now beyond me. Absolute rubbish. I'm now running
NOD32, which as far as I know does not have a anti-spam filter.

Did you also go to the McAfee website and download their uninstaller? There
is a chance there are still bits of McAfee floating around in your registry.

As far as the legit mail going to the spam folder, just go there, and click
"this is not spam" in the overhead buttons, or go to message>junk email> add
sender to safe senders list or one of the other options.

Right click on the message in the Junk Mail folder and add it to the Safe
Senders list.

I don't know the name of the sender ahead of time and therefore I can't add
them to the safe senders list -- unless the safe senders list allows some
sort of wildcard or domain matching. can it do this?
