| | Re: Yet Another Cannot Send problem If you do choose Symantec, imo, N360 is the only option. It is the only Symantec AV application designed for Vista, all the other are pre-vista code with patches to make compatible but not designed for. Other fee based applications that work well in Vista are Kaspersky, Nod32, and BitDefender. The free versions suggested were AVG and Avast. Imo, Avast is the better choice and offers better support. Though free versions when tested with all possible infections do not perform to the same level of find and repair as the fee based versions. Its's important to note that one's surfing and email habits play a large part in whether or not a fee or free version is necessary. ..winston "Saigon''s Mom" <SaigonsMom@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FE82B8AA-7613-4C47-9054-051B24279EC7@microsoft.com... : Bob, : Thank you for your insights. | | RE: Yet Another Cannot Send problem I have exactly the same problem. At first it worked fine, then after a few days I had the problem I can't remember I changed things. Oh yes I installed Adaware and uninstalled. My laptop is a Toshiba p200 with vista and windows mail. Did you try WMutil? | | Re: Yet Another Cannot Send problem I have had similar experience with Windows Mail, which I like when it works, but there have been several periods of time when I could neither send or receive messages and had to retrieve my mail from my server using a password. I have had the problem "fixed" three times by a guru in India. In view of so many complaints about the same problem, surely Microsoft must know what is causing the problem. Has anyone seen any statement by Microsoft on the subject? Incidentally, I am using Trend Micro anti-virus and Spy Sweeper as advised when I bought my computer. | | Re: Yet Another Cannot Send problem There have been claims by some that once the problem is 'fixed' it does not repeat, but you and I know differently. Microsoft has not made any statement about WM problems, although in May, one of their project managers stated that WLM was going to be a replacement for WM. Have you looked into upgrading to WLM? http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas Gary VanderMolen "MALTA" <bellgscott@verizon.net> wrote in message news:Ow5XwTw1HHA.3548@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... >I have had similar experience with Windows Mail, which I like when it works, but there have been several periods of time when I >could neither send or receive messages and had to retrieve my mail from my server using a password. Assuming that the problem is a stuck message in the Outbox, try http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/ Please read ALL of the instructions. If that isn't it, please give us the entire error message. Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and should be uninstalled. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Do not send mail. |
