Windows Mail and multiple email accounts

Hi, since I upgraded to Vista Home Premium, Windows Mail only ever seems to
download emails from the 'default' account and leaves all the other emails
from my different accounts, up on the server.

I have checked I have the correct usernames, server addresses etc, I get no
error messages, it just don't download the emails... at all... I know it
isn't a 'server' problem, as in Mozilla Thunderbird, it does all five email
accounts on the same settings.

Can someone suggest a fix?

Yes they are, so they 'should' download but dont.

Re: Windows Mail and multiple email accounts

When you click on Send/Receive, does it appear to go through the motions
of polling the server for each of the accounts?
Try clicking the little down-arrow next to Send/Receive, then select each
of the non-functioning accounts individually. Any activity or error message?

If these are all POP3 accounts, they will all download to the Inbox unless
you have created other folders and made Message Rules to move them there.
How do you know it isn't downloading the other accounts?
Try sending a message to one of the other accounts.

Re: Windows Mail and multiple email accounts

They are all Pop accounts, with the same ISP, all set up exactly the same as
they were under XP and same as I have in Thunderbird, which both worked, just
Windows Mail refuses to download the messages from the server. It contacts
the server, then just moves on to the next account, only ever downloading
from the Default account.

And I have already tried recieving messages from each account individualy,
no message rules have been set up to move the mail to specific folders either.

How do you know there is mail there to be received. Send a message to one
of those accounts.

Re: Windows Mail and multiple email accounts

because I have tried the 'sending a test message' trick, and also, my isp
allows me to log on and check my messages online at their website.

Re: Windows Mail and multiple email accounts

It is probably because the other e-mail accounts are not registered in your
registry. Vista it seems, will not allow another e-mail program to write in
the registry.

Re: Windows Mail and multiple email accounts

It should work. I have eight different POP accounts, and all work.
It is possible that your accounts are corrupted, possibly due to a
non-compatible antivirus program.
Recreate the accounts from scratch, then delete the old accounts.
