Vista - smtp server

The host 'SMTP.aol.com port:587' could not be found. Please verify that you
have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'just wanted to say hello', Account: 'pop.aol.com', Server:
'SMTP.aol.com port:587', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
this is the message i get when i try to send mail, could someone please tell
me what im doing wrong.

What you have done is to include "port:587" in the server name.

Go into Tools > Accounts > your email account > Properties > Servers
and ensure the SMTP server name reads "'smtp.aol.com"

Then go to the "Advanced" tab within Properties
and change Outgoing mail (SMTP) port number to 587

Don't forget to click on "Apply"
