Yenc, wmv and mpg files

When I had Outlook Express with Windows XP, I had no problem viewing wmv or
mpg files, now I have Windows Vista and I am not able to view these any more?
Also what is Yenc? it is in my newsgroup, and I am not able to view them?

Windows Media Player should handle WMV and MPG files.

See http://Yenc.org for more on YenC.

Re: Yenc, wmv and mpg files

you need a program to open the video files.
I use Yproxy to decode the YENC coded files.
works in real time with the file as you look at them.

Why not? Windows Mail is perfectly capable of doing so.

The same one as you find most things on the web....
it's called Google http://www.google.com/
It is very useful, try it out.
Type in "Yproxy" and hit enter.

I am trying to help you! (and making progress.)

That's a bit more helpful.

WMV and MPG files are often too large to be sent to newsgroup
as one complete file and are sent as a number of parts.
A single part of a multipart file will look exactly as you describe.
It is likely that there are other parts to download and when you
have them all you then combine and decode them which produces
the original file.

Check if there are other parts to the file.
They are often identified by having the same name
apart from a (nn,nn) representing,
(part number of number of parts)

Make sure you have downloaded all the parts,
highlight (select) them, then run a combine and decode.
