Trouble sending email

I am having a problem sending email with or without an attachment. This is
the error message I am getting.

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Test', Account:
'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I am new to this, can someone please help me?

RE: Trouble sending email

I'm also having this problem. Error message received:Your server has
unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include
server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject
'test', Account: 'pop.tds.net', Server: 'smtp.tds.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
I ran wmutil151 twice and still can't send using Windows Mail. I got my
settings from my ISP and have checked them to make sure I followed their
instructions. I have been able to receive mail but can't send. HELP, please!

Re: Trouble sending email

Pam's problem was not using the correct ports for Gmail...

Your problem may be different...
If you are using Norton or McAfee anti-virus, have you tried turning off the
email scanning, or uninstalling?
Are you connected to the TDS network, when trying to send?

Re: Trouble sending email

I don't have Norton or McAfee. I use Webroot Spysweeper with Antivirus.
I'm using my laptop and am wirelessly connected in a Library near my
campground. I'm not at home, so I'm not wirelessly connected to my Broadband
DSL (TDS).

Re: Trouble sending email

It appears that TDS blocks port 25 for anyone not on their network. You
might ask them if they have an alternate server, some ISPs provide one for
authenticated SMTP and use port 587.

Or you could ask the library for their SMTP settings, and use those while
you are there.

Re: Trouble sending email

The reason for the send failure is because you are not connected
to your home ISP when it happens.
The problem with traveling away from home is that the service providing your
temporary connection to the Internet is not going to let you connect to
your home ISP's SMTP server on port 25. This is known as a port 25 block,
and is a common anti-spam measure throughout the ISP industry.

If your home ISP does not offer SMTP on an alternate port (other than 25),
then you should get a free account with Gmail and use it for your
sending chores when away from home. Gmail does SMTP on port 465.

Re: Trouble sending email

I tried to use my Yahoo account. I received the e-mails and can't send a
reply using that as the default. Also, if I'm in a web site and want to send
a question by clicking on "Contact Us", the message is sent from WM and gets
stuck in my outbox if I use either my TDS e-mail address or my yahoo address
as the default. I've tried both.
