Still can"t send mail

    Still can"t send mail

I have tried everything from using WMUtil and it did help delete messages
from outbox, I downloaded MLM and I can send but not receive with WLM,
contacted my ISP and everything is OK because when I went directly to their
site I could send and recieve even McAfee tried. So I decided to use my
husband's Laptop which also has Vista, McAfee and same ISP with both our
accounts..... and it was perfect... recieved and sent mail. Could the
problem be that my Vista program has to be installed again to fix any problem
with window mail??? and how should it be done?

You should not have to reinstall Vista.
Did I understand you correctly that you are running McAfee antivirus
on your computer? If so, it could well be the source of the problem.
Even though McAfee is currently not causing a problem on your
husband's laptop, I can almost guarantee that eventually it will.

After uninstalling McAfee from your computer, let us know if
you still get an error message when attempting to receive mail.
If so, copy the error message and post it here.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Beside that,
McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail.

As you sugested, I uninstalled Mcafee, re-booted and still the same problem,
can't send e-mails. No error message comes up, the message seems to have
been sent since the bar shows it is connecting and you see the "sending
message" sign, but there is no message in the sent file.

    What else to do... ??

Create a new account with the same information and delete the old account.
McAfee and Norton often permanently damage an account.

I already created a new account when I called my ISP, of course I still had
Mcafee, and the problem of not being able to send e-mails persist.

Do you think I should try again creating an account without Mcafee?

Yes, create a new account in Windows Mail. It is likely that McAfee corrupted the account.

    Re: Still can"t send mail

I uninstalled Mcafee, created a new account and still I can't send e-mails
but I do receive. I can see my e-mails in the sent file, non are stuck in the
outbox, no error message appears. I can receive and send from my ISP site
(prtc.net) were the Incoming server is POP3 and incoming mail (POP) is
"pop.prtc.net" and outgoing mail (SMTP) is "mail.prtc.net".

I have tried changing the outgoing "mail.prtc.net" to "smtp.prtc.net" just
in case. Receive error message on the SMTP

This Dell computer is new (3 weeks) and its very frustrating.

So I am still wondering if my windows Mail is corrupted, if it needs to be
fixed. What should I do? I do appreciate all your effort

Check with your ISP and ensure that you have the correct port number for the
SMTP server (Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced).

    Re: Still can"t send mail

    Steve

I checked and the Outgoing is 25 (SMTP) which is correct and was verified in
my last call to my ISP a couple of days ago, and they are the same accounts
and configurations in the Laptop which has Vista Basic and I can send and
receive through that computer but can't send in my new desktop using Window
    Mail.

What should be the next step? I have the intention of finding a solution
and I will not give up. I am reading everything I can in the community and
    open to suggestions

    Thank you
