Trouble Sending Mail

I'm getting the following message. I checked my account (and checked with
bellsouth) and they said that it should be working.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was 'xxxxxxxx@bellsouth.net'. Subject 'test',
Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '550 you are not allowed to send mail to
<dxxxxxxxt@bellsouth.net>', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550,
Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Re: Trouble Sending Mail

Are you sending from a laptop? If so, are you away from home,
using a different Internet connection?

RE: Trouble Sending Mail

I did try emailing myself. The error code that I posted is the result.

Re: Trouble Sending Mail

No, sending from home DSL connection. Interestingly, my laptop is connected
via wireless network to the same modem and configured the same as my desktop
and I don't have the same problem. I'm running Vista on both computers and
the same security software (AVG). I tried disabling the email scanner, etc.
per other posted discussions - but it didn't fix the problem.

Re: Trouble Sending Mail

I take it that xxxxxxxx@bellsouth.net is the intended recipient.
Are you able to send to that same recipient from your other computer?
I noticed there is a small discrepancy between "The rejected e-mail
address was 'xxxxxxxx@bellsouth.net'" and
"you are not allowed to send mail to <dxxxxxxxt@bellsouth.net>".
Is that because you edited the username in the published error message
differently, or is there really a difference in the original error message?
