windows mail help

I have vista home premium and am using windows mail. Most of the time when I
click on the mail icon I get the error message that windows mail has stopped
working and will be closed. Dell has provided no help except to contact
microsoft. I was wondering if someone could help me get to windows mail
without the error message but if not can you use outlook express with vista?
Thank you.
Debbie

Re: windows mail help

Hi Debbie. Sorry, you can't install Outlook Express in Vista.
Unfortunately, Windows Mail has many bugs.
Your best solution is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail:
http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas

It will automatically import your Windows Mail accounts, settings, and emails.

RE: windows mail help

Dear Debbie,

It`s possible to use OUTLOOK EXPRESS for Windows Vista.
You will get no problems at all. You will not see OUTLOOK EXPRESS,
but you will still see WINDOWS MAIL. Don`t worry about it.

Y`re welcome,
Hubert.

Re: windows mail help

Outlook Express is not a part of Vista. It cannot be installed on Vista.

Hi Debbie,

I would go with Gary's suggestion amd switch to Windows Live Mail. It is better and has support for website email.

You're missing Weagle's sarcasm. Windows Mail IS for all intents and
purposes the same thing as Outlook Express was, only with some added
features and upgraded interface.

Re: windows mail help

Well, maybe... ;-)
But to me, WM is no more like OE than Tbird is...

Re: windows mail help

There were major changes to the message store, due to the severe problems OE
users have. See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx

Re: windows mail help

Try disabling email scanning of antivirus software. See
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 and you might try compacting the database with
my Windows Mail Utility: www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/
