Vista - Storage size in windows mail

Okay I am having a problem. It seems my windows mail storage it set at 2k an
dI can find no way to increase it. The program is randomly deleting messages
which is not god for business. How do I increase storage size?

I keep looking for the folder it mentions but cannot located it when
following that path

Do you mean the storage on your computer, for mail that you've already
downloaded from the ISP's mail server? Or do you mean storage at the ISP?

WM doesn't limit how much mail you can store on your hard drive, except for
total space in the drive where you've placed your Store Folder. To see
where that folder is, click Tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store
Folder. Unless you've changed the default, it is in a subfolder under
C:\Users\Brammy - or whatever UserID you use. You can choose to move it to
another drive with more free space.

More likely, though, the limit is in the mail storage space on your ISP's
mail server that you are paying your ISP for. Two KB (2 kilobytes, or just
2,048 characters!) is practically zero, so I suspect that you have
misinterpreted or mistyped it. Whatever the limit is, you will need to
discuss it with your ISP - and probably pay for an increased allowance.

You DO let your ISP delete email that you've downloaded, don't you? At
Tools | Accounts, select your mail server ISP and click Properties |
Advanced. At the bottom of this page is a section called Delivery. You may
have set this to leave a copy of messages on your server, either
indefinitely or for a limited time. This can cause your mailbox at the ISP
to overflow. (Yes, it has happened to me. Family photos can fill it up
fast, and so can spam!) When that happens, no new mail can be accepted
until some old mail has been deleted to make room.

You can go to http://www.mail2net.com/ and use their free service to access
your mailbox without using WM. You can see what has filled it up, and you
can delete some or all of the messages.

Unless you have created a special Message Rule, there is no
storage size limit for downloads in Windows Mail.
What is the exact error message? Right-click on it, copy, then
paste it into a reply here.

Thats the thing but WinMail keeps deleting mail from both inbox and deleted
items. hs morning everthingbefore the 18th had been deleted in both folders.
There is a storage limitation when I click on file it gives me the storage
limitation. In Outlook express you could specify the storage size for your
mail I cannot find a place to do so here.

This is not a case of harddrive storage s I have a 320GB HD. I cant even
find the plce where it says how long to keep read or deleted messages which
was also a feat in Outlook express. It just keeps deleting messages on its
own.

Windows Mail does not delete messages on its own.
Make sure you have the Current View for each of those folders set
to "Show All Messages" rather than "Hide Read Messages".

A second thing that could be causing the problem is your antivirus program.
Windows Mail seems to be overly sensitive to corruption from
antivirus programs, and is definitely incompatible with most
McAfee and Norton antivirus programs. If you are using either
of those latter two, it is best to uninstall and replace with a
more compatible antivirus, such as the free version of Avast:
