Re: SMTP NOT RESPONDING

Problem is with BT. Call them on 0845 600 7030 and then they will reset your
account remotely. It worked very well with me

BT are responsible for the OP's Virgin connection?

Re: SMTP NOT RESPONDING

Norton appears to be incompatible with WinMail. See
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 It should be uninstalled completely and then
another less invasive program can be used.

Re: SMTP NOT RESPONDING

Do not know whether BT will have any input in Virgin connection, although in
my case the fault was acknowleged and put right by BT (Had exactly same
problem with SMTP nos responding and showing error 0x800CCC19). It would
appear therefore that the fault is with the server and they should be in a
position to readjust the SMTP settings, so why not to call Virgin in your
case? Feel that VISTA being a new system will require others to adjust to
circumstances as new problems arise

Re: SMTP NOT RESPONDING

Yey! I have a solution - from a brillinat guy on (believe it or not) a BT
Technical Help Desk. Uninstall Norton completely (as the previous writer
suggested) then go to outgoing server and chnge the Port number from 25,
which is the default, to 587. This then allows outgoing email. You can leave
it set on 587 aswell.
Good luck to all of you.
I'll be phoning Norton up now - it's not good that their AV is incompatible
to WinMail....

Re: SMTP NOT RESPONDING

Try using 587 rather than 25. It worked for me.
