windows mail to outlook express.......help

I decided to re install windows XP and I need to transfer my messages from
Windows Mail to Outlook Express. I know that WM stores messages in .eml
format and I just need to drag the files into the right folders but I have
over 100 different folders and I wish there was a simpler process to do
this...

Re: windows mail to outlook express.......help

I have a similar problem, since I have Win2000 and Vista on the same machine
and sometimes need to import mail from one to the other, but the Win2000 and
Vista local folders seem totally incompatible, and the manual way of
copying/transferring mail message by message is hopelessly time consuming,
so I too am looking for a simpler way to copy messages between OE and
Windows Mail.
One way of course is to use for example Mozilla Thunderbird on both
platforms, rather than OE and Windows Mail. Then I don't need to copy/import
anything either, since both Thunderbirds can be set up to acces the same
mail folder on a partition that is mounted in both systems. But I'd prefer
to be able to use OE and Windows Mail.

However I seem to remember that OE import/export is built into Thunderbird,
so if the latest Thunderbird can do that with Windows Mail also, that could
possibly be a way of transferring mail between the different Microsoft mail
clients and platforms

Has anyone here tried this?
Another way might be the $24.95 Aid4Mail utility (http://www.aid4mail.com/)

Re: windows mail to outlook express.......help

I haven't found an easy way to do it either.

I would just re-create the folders in OE, then drag the .EML files from the
Windows Mail store back into OE.

Re: windows mail to outlook express.......help

There isn't an easy way at the moment with multiple folders. My OEX program
(www.oehelp.com/OEX/) will let you point to a directory of eml files and
import them into OE (or WinMail), but it won't do multiple directories at
the moment.
