Sending Word 97 Docs from a Vista Laptop

I have just finished writing a letter with Word 2007 and saved it as a Word
97-2000 doc so that I can print it out on my PC (which has Word 2000). When
I go to send it via Outlook it says that 'Some of the files could not be
found and could not be attached to the message'. How can I send this doc?

Thanks

Re: Sending Word 97 Docs from a Vista Laptop

Did you drag and drop the .doc file into Vista Mail (it's not OE anymore)?
Did you try and Insert a File? There are a few quirks with Word2000 and
Vista that I have been dealing with like not opening a .doc file when I
double-click it. Last thought, are you using the Vista type fonts in the
document?

Make sure the file is not open in Word.

Re: Sending Word 97 Docs from a Vista Laptop

Thanks - that worked when I closed the file. When I had the file open I got
an error saying that the file could not be found. How could that be?
This is very time consuming to have to keep closing and opening the file
when I need to send changes out. I hope Vista does something about this.

Thanks - that worked with I closed the file. This is a bug in the software
though because I should from Word be able to send it and for some reason its
disabled and I have to close the file to send it?????

Re: Sending Word 97 Docs from a Vista Laptop

I'm not sure if it is a bug or some sort of Vista security feature.

Re: Sending Word 97 Docs from a Vista Laptop

I hope it’s a bug that they plan on fixing soon. I can’t see anyone I know
using this for business when they can’t send a file from within Word 07 –
instead they have to keep closing and re-opening documents in order to send
them as an attachment. Talk about adding extra steps. I'll have to try the
other 07 apps - but I'm sure its gong to be the same issue.

Re: Sending Word 97 Docs from a Vista Laptop

Same thing happened using Excel. Looks like it wouldn't let you attach the
document if it's open. Strange. Just got new PC with Vista. It'll take
some getting used to....
