How to make Contact Groups?

In Outlook Express one was able to split one's contacts into different
groups (family, friends etc) - effectively subfolders of the address book.

So far, I have not found a way to do this with Windows Mail. One can create
subfolders of the Contacts folder but when one creates a new email and
clicks on one of the buttons to add an addressee, the subfolder is not
visible.

Has anyone found a way to do this please? It seems such a basic design
requirement.

Regards,

V

PS I realise one can create address groups using the 'New Contact Group'
button in the Contacts folder. But this is not what I am talking about.

I have the same question. I have tried to make folders with family, friends,
etc. but am not able to do so.

There is a solution given here
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/69...cts.html?ltr=C but it's really
only a rather laborious workaround.

Still it might meet your needs perhaps? (Doesn't resolve my problem).

If you need Contact Groups, upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

Re: How to make Contact Groups?

the groups as they existed in xp where you could change the names in the list when selecting the group has been removed from vista WM.
you can still create groups as you did in xp but they are hard groups and the only way to change them is to go back into CONTACTS and modify it.
you can not modify the list contents when using it for mailing purposes.
