| Guest | Steve Cochran...? Steve, it seems from reading many posts that there is something a bit screwy about Vista Mail. I personally get a " not responding " message whenever I try to open or save an attachment. I will then run your great program (WMutil) and all is well again for a short while. Obviously something is causing this to break, but for the life of me I can not figure it out. I have done all the fixes you have suggested and am on my third AV program NOD32 and still it persists. I am running a clean install of Vista Ultimate on a 3 month old high end laptop. I am running the current version of Thunderbird mail and it is doing an excellent job so far,but am hoping you might find a permanent fix for Vista Mail. Thanks for all you do for the NG.. Bob |

| Guest | RE: Steve Cochran...? Bob, I am having problems with my attachments in my email. I can not open them all of a sudden. What is Wmulti? What is Thunderbird mail and can you use the same email address with it? Thank you in advance. -- Christine "Bob" wrote: > Steve, it seems from reading many posts that there is something a bit > screwy about Vista Mail. Wmutil is a nifty program written by Steve Cochran that addresses the problem we seem to be having, but at least in my case i doesn't last. Just do a search on the ng and there should be a link to the program. As far as Thunderbird mail goes, yes you set it up anyway you wish and it appears to be faster than Vista Mail. I have not yet been able to convert my contacts over yet,but I think I just need to put a little more time and thought into it. I am just hoping someone will either tell me what I am doing wrong or come up with a permanent fix. Bob |

| Guest | Re: Steve Cochran...? Check your NOD32 settings and ensure that it is not set to scan email. Also clear your Temporary Internet files in IE. Which function are you using in WMUtil to fix the problem? steve "Bob" <mrbjrusa@gmail.com> wrote in message news:uSpCxne1HHA.4680@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Steve, it seems from reading many posts that there is something a bit > screwy about Vista Mail. | Guest | RE: Steve Cochran...? I've recently starting getting "not responding" when I try to click on an email. It will eventually display, sometimes, in the preview pane, but is extremely slow even at the beginning when starting up. Closing program or restarting does not help either. What is the WMultil program mentioned and how do I get it? If that's what I should do(?) -- Diane "Bob" wrote: > Steve, it seems from reading many posts that there is something a bit > screwy about Vista Mail. | Guest | Re: Steve Cochran...? The compact and repair database functions sometimes will help with performance issues such as you describe. Also disable antivirus scanning of email.
