This is a redundant feature that can corrupt Windows Mail. Plus, you will still be protected by your antivirus's real-time resident monitoring protection. Norton and McAfee seem to be the worst offenders with Windows Mail problems even with email scanning off, while Avast or AVG has not had any problems reported so far. | Guest | Re: can't receive email in win mail Windows Mail is not compatible with some antivirus programs. Make sure you are not running a non-compatible antivirus program like Norton or McAfee. Those should be uninstalled and replaced with a compatible antivirus like the free version of Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html Gary VanderMolen "salsera" <salsera@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E23D1730-8A9E-4C27-AA5D-63D543E7EA38@microsoft.com... > Never had this problem before. If you uninstall it, you will see that it will work again. Then you can switch to one of the others like Avast. Shawn |

| Guest | Re: can't receive email in win mail salsera It is caused by Norton. This can crop up at any time and it is like a time bomb. Uninstall Norton and install something like Avast which is free and will work very nicely with Windows Mail. Just remember that when installing any AV suite do not enable the email integration(email scanning) -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. | Guest | Re: can't receive email in win mail It is possible that Norton corrupted that mail account. Create the mail account again, then delete the old account. Try receiving mail. If you get an error message, right-click on it, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
