can't receive email in win mail

Never had this problem before. It will receive up to 2 messages and then just
freeze up on the third. I don't get an error report, just says receiving
mail....in the bottom right corner. help! It has been this way for days.

Hi Salsera,

Make sure your antivirus program has all of it's email scanning options turned off. This is a redundant feature that can corrupt Windows Mail. Plus, you will still be protected by your antivirus's real-time resident monitoring protection. Norton and McAfee seem to be the worst offenders with Windows Mail problems even with email scanning off, while Avast or AVG has not had any problems reported so far.

Avast -

AVG - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff

Re: can't receive email in win mail

Windows Mail is not compatible with some antivirus programs.
Make sure you are not running a non-compatible antivirus program
like Norton or McAfee. Those should be uninstalled and replaced
with a compatible antivirus like the free version of Avast:

Re: can't receive email in win mail

i've had the same Norton since I got the computer and win mail. it all came
together and i never had problems with it before, so i don't think it is the
problem? could the problem be with my webserver?

Re: can't receive email in win mail

No, I don't think it's your "webserver." (I think you meant mail server.)
If you think you know better than the experts, why are you even
bothering to be here?

Salsera,

Norton has been known as a time bomb on Vista exploding at any unknown time. If you uninstall it, you will see that it will work again. Then you can switch to one of the others like Avast.

It is caused by Norton. This can crop up at any time and it is like a time bomb. Uninstall Norton and install something like Avast which is free and will work very nicely with Windows Mail. Just remember that when installing any AV suite do not enable the email integration(email scanning)

Re: can't receive email in win mail

It is possible that Norton corrupted that mail account. Create the
mail account again, then delete the old account. Try receiving mail.
If you get an error message, right-click on it, copy, then paste it into
a reply here.

Re: can't receive email in win mail

Gary~

thanks for your help. I have also uninstalled Norton, installed Avast,
created a new account, and still my email stops at the third message. Atleast
now, there is an error posted:

Account: 'salseros828.com', Server: 'salseros828.com', Protocol: POP3,
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

any ideas?
