| | RE: Strange Behavor in Windows Mail The same thing is happening to mine; I also have Windows Mail w/Windows Vista Home Premium. It is taking a long time opening and I get error messages. This started about 3/4 days ago. Thanks for any help out there. Mae "Shabacca" wrote: > When I open Windows Mail, the screen jumps several times. | Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Strange Behavor in Windows Mail Make sure your antivirus program has all of it's email scanning options turned off. This is a redundant feature that can corrupt Windows Mail. Plus, you will still be protected by your antivirus's real-time resident monitoring protection. Norton and McAfee seem to be the worst offenders with Windows Mail problems even with email scanning off, while Avast or AVG has not had any problems reported so far. Avast - http://avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html AVG - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff Shawn |

| | Re: Strange Behavor in Windows Mail Uninstall McAfee (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 ). There is a known problem with the message list jumping around when starting up that one cannot prevent at the moment. steve "Shabacca" <Shabacca@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3B745F05-3CD5-4F5C-8CE1-EC74A2C9009D@microsoft.com... > When I open Windows Mail, the screen jumps several times. | | Re: Strange Behavor in Windows Mail I found another solution. I ran McAfee’s Virtual Technician and it found that I had a missing a file. I completely uninstalled McAfee AV, using Windows uninstall and also McAfee’s uninstall program. Then I reinstalled McAfee AV. Windows Mail now opens quickly and the screen does not jump. I hope this helps someone who want's to keep their McAfee AV. "Steve Cochran" wrote: > Uninstall McAfee (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 ). | | Re: Strange Behavor in Windows Mail You haven't learned your lesson. If you continue using McAfee AV with Windows Mail, you will regret it sooner or later.
