DELETED ITEMS WONT DELETE

How do I get my deleted items to delete PERMANENTLY??? I just bought my new
pc in April and started using windows vista mail in June and now have 529
pieces of mail that won't delete. Some mail will delete but then I find
these other pieces that for some reason or another after I read them and
return to them the message header reads "MESSAGE COULD NOT BE DISPLAYED"
then that screws me up for deleting anymore messages for that day.
What gives. I've tried downloading the utility and that did nothing.
Any suggestions??? thanks,

Hi Lori,

Read the top portion at this link and try the "Stuck Messages in the Deleted Items Folder" section. If that does not work for you, then do the "To Reset Windows Mail" section. This will get rid of them for you.

I recommend you upgrade to Windows Live Mail:

Also, be sure to replace any non-compatible antivirus (McAfee or Norton)
with a compatible antivirus such as the free version of Avast.

Many have reported that if you go to Edit | Empty Deleted Items multiple
times, they eventually get deleted.
