| | Re: UK English spell checker. Colin shared these words of wisdom: > Does anyone know how to get Windows Mail to check spelling using UK > English? Some folks in the state of Washington? Nothing in sight!! What IMHO would be the most urgent thing to do: Imply pressure on MS to open an interface for using the Office dictionaries in WinMail. The situation now is truly grotesque: I can choose "English (Jamaica)" as well as some versions of Hindu and Afrikaans in any Office 2007 app but I can not use anything but just *4* (in words: "four") languages in WinMail. I can have a dozen of different User-dictionaries in Office, but just *one* primitive user-dic in WinMail where I'm always prompted if a word well preserved in the Office dictionaries has to be added again. Awful, simply awful if one needs a certain vocabulary (be it the chemical industry, the Law business or in Rocket Science). Rainald P.S. An even more important issue with WinMail is that one can not replace the "Contacts" application (the WAB successor) by the Outlook Contacts (as was possible with OE and Outlook up to OL2003). Wasn't it that serious, I'd call it ridiculous. |

| | Re: UK English spell checker. While waiting for MS to get their act together try this: Global Spellchecker can check the spelling and/or display the meaning of any text that you can select within any application. It uses the MS Word dictionary and thesaurus as its reference. It works very well in Vista/Windows mail. It only does a couple of words at a time though, so do your normal US english spell check then zoom in on those US words that bug you - copy them to the clicpboard then hit Global Spell Checker. Kenqld Download GlobalSpellChecker - SpellChecker and dictionary which can be invoked from any application "mac" wrote: Quote: > > "Colin" <Colin@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:74C46FBC-FAB0-4631-843F-AD8AF36A68F9@xxxxxx Quote: > > Does anyone know how to get Windows Mail to check spelling using UK > > English? > It's not a show stopper, simply "add" the words during spell check, that the > mercans spell incorrectly, favourites, colour, center etc > > > -- > Regards Steve. > MS-MVP. | | Re: UK English spell checker. Hard to believe that MS is unaware that all the English-speaking world except the precious US is on British English..why should we have to 'ADD' to make this dumb thing work properly? Even in Canada it's 'labour' 'traveller' 'cheque'..get with it MS for Pete's sake...
