How do I dump Windows Mail Altogether?

I'm running Vista on a high end workstation with 2 Gig of ram, a quad core
processor. and 10000 Rpm hard drives. Windows Mail is so slow to launch and
retrieve that I feel like I'm running it on a 286. I'm using Avast anti virus
and it doesn't seem to make a difference whether Email scanning is on or off
.... this program just plain blows. Can I dump this crap and install Outlook
Express in Vista or do I need to go to a third party mail program like
Thunderbird or Eudora?

OE doesn't install on Vista but you could try Windows Live Mail
which some people, me for instance, prefer to Windows Mail.

Re: How do I dump Windows Mail Altogether?

Thanks ... I'm already running live mail for my hotmail account. I'm looking
to sort my other mail accounts. (notably the ones I receive downloaded files
on) I'll probably just go to thunderbird and be done with it. I appreciate
the reply.

I just installed Thunderbird ... much better than windows mail and very
fast. My test message included multiple JPGs and an AVI file and the system
didn't even blink. Well My problems solved. Now I just have to figure out how
import my contacts and saved folders ... should be fun. Thanks all

Delete your WLM shortcuts, make sure it's not in the Startup folder
and just forget about it.
