Re: Error message in Vista Microsoft Mail

Known issue:

http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/vista.htm
Does Outlook work on Vista?

The best fix is to upgrade to Outlook 2003 or 2007. You can try copying the
wab.dll to Vista and registering it. While this will end the error, the
address book may not function correctly. For more information, see:

http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/vista_wab.htm
Hack the WAB

Re: Error message in Vista Microsoft Mail

How do your settings compare with those listed here:

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...op/pop-06.html
POP Yahoo! Mail Plus with Microsoft Outlook 2002 (XP) and 2003

Note that only PAID Yahoo mail acccounts can be accessed with Outlook,
Windows Mail, Outlook Express, Eudora, and the like; the free accounts
require a web browser.

Re: Error message in Vista Microsoft Mail

I just got my new computer & Vista. My provider informed me that the e-mail error I get back :

> Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
> Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

is at present time caused by all anti virus software, because they don't support (yet) the new
"SSL" security protocole.

Keep on using Microsoft Mail, write your e-mails, then temporarily turn off the anti virus protection until the e-mails are out of your box, turn it back on again.

I was told to be patient, eventually the patches will be supplied by your anti virus company.

The SSL protocol id the next generation, most providers are gradually stopping the other protocol, everyone who uses Vista and Microsoft Mail will have to switch, soon or later.

Hope this helps.

Pierre.

Re: Error message in Vista Microsoft Mail

Your provider told you a falsehood.
Furthermore, the error message shows that SSL was disabled,
so you can't blame SSL.

Your provider is wrong. The problem is that you did not follow your email
provider's instructions in setting up your Yahoo mail.
