Server won't respond...sometimes

I got a new computer last week and hooked it up to my home wireless network.
When I hooked up via a DSL cable all was fine, but whenever I try the
wireless network, Windows Mail gets tempermental. Most of the time, it goes
to recieve mail (ex: "recieving message 1 of 3"), but the bar never moves.
Nothing happens, and the server times out. No matter how long I wait, I get
nothing. It gives me this error:

Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'incoming.verizon.net', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

But the weird thing is, occasionally it works just fine. I'll open Mail, it
will connect, and poof - here's all your mail. But I can't figure out what
makes it work or not, because it seems completely random and only lasts a few
minutes (I try a few minutes later and get the above error). It's nothing I'm
doing that makes it work, that much I know. And it isn't the connection
strength, b/c I'm sitting in the room with the router and have all 5 bars.
Internet Explorer etc. works perfectly the entire time.

Does anyone know why this happens??!!

Re: Server won't respond...sometimes

Which antivirus program are you running? Any other
third party security software?
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee or Norton
security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled.
Replace with a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Re: Server won't respond...sometimes

Trend Micro antivirus is compatible, but leave its email scanning
option turned off.

I don't know about Spy Sweeper. I use Windows Defender
for anti-spyware.

Re: Server won't respond...sometimes

It was the SpySweeper that was the problem. I left Trend Micro on and turned
off the SpySweeper e-mail sheild and everything works fine now. Thanks a lot.

Re: Server won't respond...sometimes

Not knowing much about SpySweeper, I had no idea it has email
scanning. Anything that scans email is bad for Windows Mail.
Thanks for that information.
