| | Exporting from Outlook Exp. to Windows Mail - folder organization I'm trying to export my OE address (XP) book to Windows mail (Vista). I can get the entire addy book (WAB file) to the new computer but all my organizational folders are gone and it's one huge mess. I've tried dragging the contacts into groups/folders I set up separately on WM but they copy rather than moving. Of course when I try to delete the extra, both contacts are deleted. Is there any way to get my OE address book to WM and still have everything organized or am I just stuck trying to reorganize all those contacts once I get them to WM? I'm sure this is an elementary problem but I'm new to Vista and exporting/importing so please be kind :0) I tried searching the message board but came up with little helpful information. Thanks for your help. |

Heaps of people have been asking this question but as far as I can see nobody has given a usable answer yet. I want to know the answer too! | Vista Ultimate | Re: Exporting from Outlook Exp. to Windows Mail - folder organization Link does not work for me either...tried going to the vista4beginners home link, that is dead too (name of site is correct, it shows up on google). Another twist to the problem - I was able to import all my OE messages and folders into Windows Mail, get them organized, etc. last night. Then this morning I power up and open Windows Mail to find they are all GONE. Every single thing I imported has just disappeared. I work from home, and so much of my business involves email, so we're talking a couple thousand messages here. I don't mind doing the import again, but am wondering if by using the "old" instructions for importing/exporting OE mail (XP instructions), I'm missing some kind of step that "locks" them into Windows Mail permanently. Help! Tracy |

| Vista Ultimate | Re: Exporting from Outlook Exp. to Windows Mail - folder organization I found another link that takes you to the same page (I think): Windows Vista Magazine | Migrate from Outlook Express to Windows Mail Edited: Nope this is a dead link too. Alistair, do you happen to have a hard copy of the tutorial? Tracy Last edited by TracyB; 08-11-2007 at 09:27 AM.. Reason: Added text - link still dead |

| | Re: Exporting from Outlook Exp. to Windows Mail - folder organizat Hi Tracy, you got further than most of us! Can you please share how you managed to import all your OE messages and folders into Windows Mail? Regarding there subsequent disappearance, is it possible that they are in another user profile or folder? regs Alistair "TracyB" wrote: > > Link does not work for me either...tried going to the vista4beginners > home link, that is dead too (name of site is correct, it shows up on > google). > > Another twist to the problem - I was able to import all my OE messages > and folders into Windows Mail, get them organized, etc. last night. > Then this morning I power up and open Windows Mail to find they are all > GONE. | | Re: Exporting from Outlook Exp. to Windows Mail - folder organizat The link sort of works if you take out the "www" part, e.g., http://vista4beginners.com/ But the site seems to be having some problems. | | Re: Exporting from Outlook Exp. to Windows Mail - folder organizat I can't even get Windows Mail to allow me to send messages, only receive. I have checked with my provider comcast & the sending address is correct. They say it is a microsoft problem, and I can't get any one to help. Any ideas would be appreciated. -- Ken V. If so go to: http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx Be sure to read and follow the instructions -- especially the ones in the RED outlined box. -- I Bleed Blue and Gold GO BEARS!
