Hello,
I've searched the boards for anyone else with this problem and can't seem to find any solution. I use Windows mail and haven't had any problems until now. I didn't check emails for three days and today I open Windows mail and there's about 24 hours worth of emails missing. Strange, as emails receieved today were there, but there's a large chunk missing. there are no messages in the inbox from the 9th(yesterday). I know for a fact there should be mail. (I get email from many different forums automatically and there are messsages on that day that I didn't receieve, for one.) What happened and how can I try to recover these messages? I signed into my server account (verizon) to see to if they were stuck on the server, but there's nothing there. I searched the message store folder, not there either. Can anyone help? Am not that savvy technically. Thanks so much, Layla |

Layla again.
It's actually two days worth of emails, not one! The last email downloaded was 8/8/07 at 7:04am, the next one that came in after that is 8/10/07 at 8:12am. This is not good - please help me find these missing emails!! Thank you "Layla" wrote: > Hello, > > I've searched the boards for anyone else with this problem and can't seem to > find any solution. If the messages are not in your inbox and not on the server
then perhaps the server malfunctioned. I presume you have checked all your folders including Junk E-mail and Deleted Items. I realized what may have caused the problem: My computer was shut down
improperly while the messages were downlaoding. I had a program running that was frozen so I turned it off without shutting down and that may have been why the emails got lost as they were still downloading from the server. Is there any way I can retrieve the emails from someplace on the harddrive? I stupidly ignored all the error and prompt messages when it started up again, and just started it normally. ![]() Thanks for your help, much appreciated. A mail client like Windows Mail will signal the server to delete
messages on the server only after all messages have successfully downloaded. When a download does not complete, the server doesn't delete any messages, and they will download again on the next cycle. Even when a download is interrupted, your inbox should have the messages that were downloaded just prior to the interruption. I have no idea where you would go to look for the missing messages. Sometimes you can talk your ISP into restoring deleted mail since they keep backup tapes. If you interrupted the message download, then the messages should still be
on the server. The signal that all messages are downloaded is not sent until are messages are downloaded. Are you sure that your ISP didn't have trouble on that day? -- Ronald Sommer "Layla" <Layla@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4EDF7623-3036-47F2-A3ED-4A7C2F944568@microsoft.com... :I realized what may have caused the problem: My computer was shut down : improperly while the messages were downlaoding.
