Organizing Contacts

I've read several posts where users are frustrated with Windows Mail's
inability to organize mail cantacts like what is possible with Outlook
Express.

I also find this very frustrating. I prefer to have my mail contacts in
various folders.

Is there someway to find out whether Microsoft is considering improvements
in this area?

Thanks

Re: Organizing Contacts

Microsoft has not announced any improvement or bug fixes for
Windows Mail. Development work for the free email client is
apparently limited to Windows Live Mail (WLM).
Incidentally, Contact Groups work much better in WLM.

Yes, me too. I gave up after an hour trying to list my contacts by last
names. I was so sure that there was a way to do it that I did not bother get
help right away. This is not progress!!

Re: Organizing Contacts

1. You can create folders for the contacts, but Windows Mail will not show
them when you
click on To:, CC: or BCC:

However, you can do it bassackwards if you have folders... open your
Contacts folder, open your sub-folder, select your recipient(s),
right-click, select Action - Send Email

and, you can create Groups, which are mail lists of selected contacts.

2. To sort:
In the Contacts folder:
Change the View to "Details".
Right-click on the "Name" column heading, click on "First Name", then click
on "Last Name"
Click on the "Last Name" heading to sort by that, or click on "First Name"
heading to sort by that.

In a Create Mail window:
Click on To:
Click on the "Name" column heading... it cycles thru 4 different sorts

In the Contact Properties:
click on the down arrow at the end of the Full Name box
