In the first place, Windows Live Mail is not a part of MS Internet Explorer.
In the second place, there is a Windows Live Mail group. I have cross posted
this to that group.
In the third place, Windows Vista also has its own groups. I have also cross
posted this to the Windows Vista Mail group.

Finally, I have no idea about how to set default programs in Windows XP. So,
just in case you might need the expertise of a Windows Vista group; so
'Followup-To:' has been set accordingly.

Re: Windows Live Mail Questions

Here is the link I was given here when I wanted to make WLM my default email
application. Worked fine.

http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/224/1/

Apparently you can set it through the Vista default applications settings
also.

If that one isn't correct use:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926374/en-us
which is given in a few messages here.

Hi Gurvinder,

In Windows Live Mail, check this:
1. Click Tools.
2. Click Options.
3. Click General tab.
4. Click both "Make Default" buttons at the bottom.
5. Click Ok.

This should do it.

Re: Windows Live Mail Questions

That link appears to deal with Windows Live Hotmail only.

Re: Windows Live Mail Questions

?
All that says is that Windows Mail does not support Web-based e-mail accounts.

Re: Windows Live Mail Questions

If brink's answer doesn’t do it ..click start, type in def , click default
programs. in the window that opens click set your default programs, click
windows live mail, click set this program as default ... To be sure that
windows live mail is what opens web based mailto click choose defaults for
this program make sure that under protocols MAILTO is checked, click save.
Hope this helps.
