bug in Win Mail in Vista Ultimate 64bit

Go here to see the popup box when I click on the Send/Recieve button in
WinMail.
There are 4 accounts I do this with, which worked in the 32bit version of
Home Premium. Now, after installastion of Ultimate (which I got free from
Microsoft), this box shows up with apparent errors but no message. Any ideas?

I'm not familiar with WM bugs that are peculiar to the X64 version
of Vista, but have you made sure you are not running one of the
non-compatible antivirus programs, McAfee or Norton?

Hi M,

Can you describe the box and any error message it has? Your link goes to a password protected area and I cannot see the image you are referring to.

I use the 64 bit Vista Home Premium as well, and I know of no error in WM that's just for the 64 Vista either.

Ok M,

Second post link:
Bug in WinMail (2nd message)

Check your account setup intructions at your email provider's website.

Also check to see if your firewall is allowing Windows Mail access and for the port numbers on the POP3 and SMTP ports in Account information.

Re: bug in Win Mail in Vista Ultimate 64bit

Brink, I should add that each of the 4 accounts, when I send/receive them
individually, work. But not together by pressing S/R. The configuration is
correct for all accounts.

Re: bug in Win Mail in Vista Ultimate 64bit

Brink, I see that Vistax64 link at bottom. If it doesn't cost money to reg
there, I'll be there.

Don't much like the small type in this forum.

Mike,

It is completely free. Registration is only required to post so that we can moderate what is posted and keep out the inappropriate ones. I look forward to seeing you there.

You might try using Windows Live Mail (WLM) instead of Windows Mail (WM). It handles multiple accounts a lot better, and they have their own inboxes. Plus, it supports website email and is not buggy like WM. It will do what you are wanting.

Windows Live Mail Beta
