    Lost Windows Mail

Somehow the Windows Mail Icon has disappeared from my menus. I tried
searching my c: drive for the application file and don't see it in
    programs\windows\mail.

Where do I find the program so I can run it.

    Thanks
    Jim

    The path should be C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe.
You may have to adjust your Folder Options to show hidden and
system files. It is also a good practice to always show file extensions.
If Windows Mail somehow obtained the hidden or system file
attributes, those attributes should be removed.

    Hi Jim,

You might see if this will work for you.

    1. Open Start Menu.
    2. In white line (Start Search) area, type "winmail.exe" (no quotes)
    3. Right click on the "winmail.exe" at the top of the left white side and click "Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)".

Now you have a shortcut of Window Mail on your desktop that you can place where you like.

    Windows Mail Program is gone...

I am also having problems with my Windows Mail. I click on the icon on the
desktop and the green 'pane' shows up, but it just sits there and the curser
is showing as busy. After ten minutes or so, I do a Ctrl-alt-delete to get
the task manager to end the program and it's not even listed as running. This
has been going on since 8/29/07
My IP provider, Road Runner recommends the use of Windows Mail as the e-mail
client. I would prefer to use Microsoft Outlook, but it doesn't take my email
off their server as quickly as Windows Mail [guessing here]. I have set up
the Microsoft Outlook for the time being.
Is there a place where I can download the Windows Mail program? I got this
pc back in April and have been looking all over for the installation disk and
    cannot seem to find it.

Any information would be helpful - Thanks, Karen

    Hi Karen,

You might consider switching to Windows Live Mail Beta (WLM) instead. It supports Pop3, IMAP, HTTP website (EX: Hotmail) email, and is a lot more stable. Plus, WLM has a separate Inbox for each account. WLM will automatically import Windows Mail messages, accounts, and settings into it. Contacts will have to be manually imported. (Tools, Contacts, File, Import, Address book for current Windows User.)

    For US and UK:
    http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas

For non-US and non-UK locations (direct download): http://g.live.com/1rebeta/WLM_en-us
