Blank error on send/receive

Hi,

I have just had to restore my PC by doing a clean install and prior to this
I backed up account settings, emails and contacts. Upon completion of restore
I have imported everything, and all seems fine. However when I open Windows
mail and send/receive everything works perfectly, but any subsequent
send/receive all request won't work and results in a blank error. If I click
"send all" or "receive all" buttons this works fine, as does send/receive
function of each individual email account. The only problem is send/receive
all won't work after the initial such request has completed upon the opening
of windows mail

I have tried turning off the email scanning function in Norton Antivirus
2007 to no avail, and equally I have deleted my email accounts and added them
again, but still no joy.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Brad

Re: Blank error on send/receive

Turning off email scanning in Norton AV is not sufficient.
You will have to uninstall it completely.

Re: Blank error on send/receive

I have just tried this and it is still showing this blank error....any other
ideas as to what it could be? Anything to do with importing of messages
and/or settings perhaps?

Re: Blank error on send/receive

Remove the account, close WinMail, then open WinMail and add the account
back. Norton probably damaged the account in the Registry.

Re: Blank error on send/receive

This problem has been occuring sinc before I installed Norton Antivirus. i
restored the email account settings and messages prior to installing Norton
AV. I just thought I should eliminate Norton first rather than simply coming
on the forum witihout having tried anything. I have also deleted email
accounts and created them again manually.

Any other possible ideas?

Re: Blank error on send/receive

I have the exact same issue as you. It happened when I restored an account.
This has nothing to do with Norton, since I have never used Norton!! But
that will be the only advice you'll ever get form MVP's on this issue.
Sorry.

Re: Blank error on send/receive

Unfortunately I fear this may be an on-going problem which I will just have
to live with. However there must be a solution somewhere...hopefully it will
come to light sooner rather than later.

Re: Blank error on send/receive

Since there is no apparent solution for your WM problem,
it makes sense to upgrade to WLM:

Obviously this is an option, but I don't want to resort to this. I expect
software to work, and would appreciate any further advice anyone can offer??

Re: Blank error on send/receive

Sorry, I'm fresh out of suggestions.
I don't understand your reluctance to try the WLM upgrade,
now that you've run out of things to try with WM.
