Windows Mail Not The Default Mail Program

I ran RegClean and I also uninstalled and re-installed Microsoft Office 97.
Now every time I open Windows Mail, I get the message that says that Windows
Mail is not the default mail program. I click Yes to make it the default
mail program, but the next time I open Windows Mail, I still get the same
message. How can I fix this problem so Windows Mail will once again be my
default mail program? Thanks.

Re: Windows Mail Not The Default Mail Program

Phil,

Try this:

Click Start, select Default Programs
Click Set program access and computer defaults
Click Custom, and select Windows Mail
Click OK

Then, follow these steps:

Click Set your default programs
Select your mail client from the list
Click Set this program as default
Click OK

Re: Windows Mail Not The Default Mail Program

Are you sure RegClean is Vista compatible? I am very dubious about
the need for any registry cleaning programs.

You can try using Default Programs:
Go to Default Programs, which you can reach either from
the Start menu or the Control Panel,
then click the first item: "Set your default programs."
After a few seconds a list of programs comes up.
Click on Windows Mail. If all is well, it will respond
"This program has all its defaults."
If it reports less than all (3) of its defaults, fix it by selecting
one of the options indicated by green arrows.
