Re: Adress Book from XP to VISTA?

You may have to manually copy the address book from XP to CONTACTS in Vista.

Before you do, type CONTACTS on the search line to see what is there.

Re: Adress Book from XP to VISTA?

Outlook Express: File > Export > Windows Contacts > CSV

Windows Mail: File > Import > Windows Contacts > CSV

Re: Adress Book from XP to VISTA?

I use Windows Live Mail, not Outlook Express.
Where do I copy or export from there. When I go to Export it only shows
Messages, not Address Book.

Yes, if you mean a *.WAB file.

I've tried sending myself the wab from xp to my vista laptop and using an
external hard drive to import Windows mail blocks the file at the server and
asks for security changes to unzip from the new desktop (on my laptop) I've
never had such trouble. It would probably be faster to type it all in
manually at this point (not really). This is driving me nuts. Why won't
microsoft support it's own platforms a little more simply? HELP?

The security changes it's asking for are probably to mark it read-write
instead of readonly, which some transfer methods will make it. Also,
Windows Mail often has trouble using files on any kind of external drive,
so it's a good idea to copy it to a directory on your C: drive first.
A directory you create under your Documents directory is a good choice.
Then start Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Windows Contacts, then
Import, then Windows Address Book File (Outlook Express contacts),
then Import, then find the .wab file and click on it, then Close, then
close the Contacts window.
