| | Windows Mail Send/Receive Problem I have a rather obnoxious problem. Windows Mail will not Send or Receive after the first send/receive at the start-up. No matter how you try to send/receive. Clicking the icon on the tool bar or selecting any of the choices in the Send and Receive menu bar commands: RECEIVE ALL, SEND ALL, SEND AND RECEIVE ALL or choose the default account listed at the bottom of the menu list. After creating a new outbound message you click SEND on the toolbar and you get the same message: "Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. please review the list of errors below for more details." But the list below the error message is blank. Followed by the status bar reading " 0 of 1 tasks have complete successfully" Any ideas??? |

| | Re: Windows Mail Send/Receive Problem This sounds quite similar to a problem I have been having where the first send/receive is fine, however any future send/receive requests are met by a blank error. Only an individual send OR receive request works, not the two together. This error occuredfor me after I imported messages and settings from a backup previously made. I am running Norton Antivirus 2007 and have tried turning this off, uninstalling and everything you can think of in order to make this fully functional, however at the moment my only solution is to close down Windows Mail and then restart it, after which you will still receive the error for any send/receive attempts subsequent to the initial one. If anyone does have a solution please let us know. "Sagazoid" <Sagazoid@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:FB01F431-3101-4D13-990F-16CB1D39A276@xxxxxx Quote: >I have a rather obnoxious problem. | | Re: Windows Mail Send/Receive Problem Interesting, how have this been happening? I just bought the laptop today this is happening on. Haven't installed a non-windows firewall yet or antivirus, haven't imported anything. The only that I have done was to visit the MS update site and apply the latest updates. Then opened the Windows mail program. Hopefully the rest of Vista works better than this? | | Re: Windows Mail Send/Receive Problem I was told to try the uninstallation of Norton AV, however it has since confirmed that it is not related to this issue at all. I hope that someone is able to release a fix soon or at least give some indication as to what is causing the problem. Some people say that you shouldn't be too suprised if Windows Mail is not working as you would expect as it is only a minor part of the overall OS package, but personally as I have paid for Vista I expect it and all associated elements within it to function as they should. | | Re: Windows Mail Send/Receive Problem It is possible that this problem is caused by your antivirus. Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee or Norton security programs. Those will need to be uninstalled, not just disabled. After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their email scanning option turned off. | | Re: Windows Mail Send/Receive Problem Is it even possible to buy a new laptop without a 'trial' version of either McAfee or Norton antivirus already installed? If you are sure you don't have an antivirus program, your only solution will be to upgrade to a more stable email program, like Windows Live Mail: http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas Gary VanderMolen "Sagazoid" <Sagazoid@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:F4DDCECD-6BCA-44F2-A65D-B236425CE515@xxxxxx Quote: > Interesting, how have this been happening? > I just bought the laptop today this is happening on. > Haven't installed a non-windows firewall yet or antivirus, haven't imported > anything. | | Re: Windows Mail Send/Receive Problem Thanks for your responsem however I have already established that this issue isn't related to Norton Antivirus as I have completely eliminated it from my system and the problem still exists. It is just very frustrating for those of us who don't wish to use another program. | | Re: Windows Mail Send/Receive Problem If Frank's suggestions don't work out for you, you may have little choice but to try a different email program. It may well be that while you had NAV installed it corrupted your Windows Mail beyond repair.
